Mildred “Millie” Veronica Welch, 77, of Merrimack passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Peabody, MA.
She was born on September 14, 1935 in Nashua, daughter of the late George and Olivette (Marquis) Chacos.
She graduated from Nashua High School in 1953. After high school, she attended the Concord Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1957.
Millie began her career teaching in the Nursing School and then went on to work at Memorial Hospital in Nashua NH. When her children were small she worked at the newly formed Medical Center in Merrimack NH. She returned to Memorial Hospital as an ER nurse and Nursing Supervisor where she spent the remainder of her career, retiring after 30 years of service. Her work ethic and pride was evident in all that she did. Millie was well respected by her peers and the medical staff, but more importantly by the many patients who's lives she touched throughout the years with her medical training and caring.
She especially enjoyed her time at her winter residence in Marco Island, FL, whether it was watching the sunset, dancing to the sounds of Bobbie Gideon or collecting seashells at Tiger Tail Beach. This was matched by her time in NH during the summer when she would spend time with friends, family and her grandchildren by the pool.
Millie is pre-deceased by a brother, Thomas Chacos; and three sisters, Deloras LaParl, Janet Hughes, and Alice Sullivan.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Leonard Welch of Merrimack NH and Marco Island Fl.; two daughters, Kimberly Cadorette and her husband David of Nashua NH, and Jennifer Welch and her husband Richard O'Brien of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Nicole Cadorette of Portsmouth NH, Alexander Hernandez of Nashua NH, Colleen Welch-O’Brien of Kansas City, MO, and Michael Cadorette of Nashua NH; two brothers, Edward Chacos of Nashua, and Richard Chacos and his wife Shirley of Milford; two sisters, Lorraine Lang and her husband Bill of S.Carolina, and Carole Chacos of Merrimack; as well as many nieces and nephews.
