Roger
Brown
September 16, 1948 – February 21, 2026
International Harvest Christian Church
Starts at 11:00 am
Roger Phillips Brown, 77, of Merrimack, NH, graduated to Heaven on February 21, 2026, after a time of declining health. Comforted by his steadfast faith in Jesus, he passed peacefully at home; surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 16, 1948, in Steubenville, OH, Roger was the son of the late William Moorhead Brown and Jane Carrel (Phillips) Brown. He attended school in Steubenville and played high school football there before his family moved to Merrimack, NH. He completed his senior year and graduated from Merrimack High School, where he met his future wife, Joyce Johnson. He attended the University of New Hampshire for one year before being drafted into the United States Army.
After bootcamp, Roger married his high school sweetheart, Joyce. He then faithfully served his country from 1968 to 1977. He was a Vietnam War Veteran with assignments as well in Hanau, Germany; Fort Lewis, Washington; and Fort Monroe, Virginia. During his military years, they welcomed three children. His father also served as an Army Lieutenant and B-24 Liberator pilot in World War II and several other family members served in various branches of the military.
After his military career, Roger primarily worked in sales and management. In 1981, at age 33, his life was profoundly changed through a personal encounter with Jesus. He graduated from New Life Bible School in 1985 and spent the rest of his life passionately sharing his faith. He led a prayer group at church for years and was also actively involved in various ministries for the rest of his life. Serving the Lord and spending time with his family and friends were the joys of his life. He would want it said that Jesus was the most important part of his story and invite others to know Him personally.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Jane Brown. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57½ years, Joyce Pauline (Johnson) Brown; his children Sonya Brown; Amber Ellis and her husband Carl, along with their daughters Cheyann, Ruth, Aaliyah, and Abbagael; and Sean Brown and his wife Heather.
He is also survived by his siblings: William "Doug" Brown and his wife Ki Wha; Alexis Robinson and her husband Dennis; Kristin Lowman and her husband Bob; and Craig Brown and his wife Anne; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, his cherished church family, and dear friends.
A worship and Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday May 30th at 11:00 a.m. at International Harvest Christian Church at 542 Mast Road in Goffstown, NH. There will be a reception after the service with a light luncheon provided. A private Interment will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in, Boscawen, NH.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions in Roger Brown's name to the Fisher House Foundation; (a veteran's support organization) ( www.fisherhouse.org ).
