Obituary

Alec Jacob Bronchuk, 20, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Thursday June 13th, 2019 in a tragic accident while kayaking on the Merrimack River.

He was born on May 18th, 1999 in Boston, MA to Phillip "Jake" and Michelle (Mackie) Bronchuk of Merrimack. He was a graduate of Merrimack High School and was currently enrolled at Plymouth State College.

Alec was an avid athlete and co-captained the 2016-17 Tomahawk squad to a semifinal appearance in the NH Division 1 State Championship. Following the season, Alec was selected to participate in the annual CHaD All-Star football game and was one of the top fundraisers for team West that year- putting his heart and soul into the fund raising effort for the incredible work they do. At the annual Tomahawk football Banquet, Alec was presented with the team leadership award by Assistant Coach "Goodie" (as he was affectionately known by the kids) who gave an impassioned endorsement proclaiming - "That kid would make you want to run through a brick wall for him - but he dropped a lot of F bombs". Alec loved his Tomahawk brothers and was extremely grateful for Coach Kip and his staff who were more than coaches - but true mentors, role models, and friends to him.

An avid outdoors-man his entire life, Alec was never far from a fishing hole or duck pond in Southern New Hampshire and could frequently be found fishing the banks of local streams and ponds with his brothers and best friends Sean and Jesse, arguing about who caught the bigger trout or bass. As the leaves changed in autumn he could be found with his buddy Jason water-fowling up and down the river. In the summer months, he would be chilling with his best buddies Ty, Ryan, Nick, John and too many others to mention. If you were Alec's friend, you were his brother and an immediate extended member of his family.

Alec also enjoyed making music with his buddy Nick (a talented local musician) and his brother Sean. Together they put together some amazing compilations that caught the attention of several production companies.

To his parents, Alec was a bright shooting star in their sky that left far too soon. But they are eternally grateful that they were blessed to have him in their life for these past 20 years.

Alec's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the members of the Concord Fire Department, Concord Police, State Police, Marine Patrol, and Fish and Game who spent countless hours working in treacherous conditions to bring him home. Alec will be forever loved and missed by his parents, Jake and Michelle Bronchuk; two brothers, Jesse Bronchuk, and Sean Donahue and his fiancée Diane Laborera; paternal grandmother Christine Bronchuk of Weymouth, MA and her late companion Gabriel Maimaron; paternal grandfather Phillip Bronchuk and his wife Patricia of Plymouth, MA; maternal grandmother Kathie Shea-Hollis and her husband Peter Hollis of Gloucester, MA; maternal grandfather Richard Mackie of Merrimack; aunts and uncles Jerilyn and husband John Spokis, Nicole Bronchuk, John Perchard and wife Amy, Bonnie and husband Mike Giblin, Jackie Perchard, and Michael, Richard, Kristin, Shannon and Thomas Mackie, and Alexa Levine along with numerous great uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Visitation hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, NH on Tuesday, June 18th from 4 – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack on Wednesday June 19th at 10 AM.
