Alta Virtue

Alta J. (Hodgman) Virtue, 91, of Manchester, NH died Saturday, September 5th, 2026 after a brief illness.

She was born in Berlin, NH on January 11th, 1935, a daughter of the late Elliot L. and Ilvah E. (Ray) Hodgman.

Before retirement, she was employed for many years at the Elliot Hospital, holding various positions.

In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by a son, Michael Virtue who died in 2014; a brother Larry Hodgman and a sister Joan Aubin.

Members of her surviving family include a son William Virtue, two daughters, Shelly Virtue and Sheila Stone; seven grandchildren, Jill Allard, Matthew Robinson, Tammy Robinson, Alyssa Virtue, Lisa Stone, Robyn Virtue and Logan Virtue; nine great-grandchildren, Madison, Justin, Kimberly, Bode, Nolan, Graham, Autumn, Cal, and Leo and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial calling hours will be held in the Rivet Funeral Home & Crematorium, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, NH on Friday, September 11th, 2026 from 4 - 7 PM. A graveside service will be held at the family lot in Last Rest Cemetery on Saturday, September 12th, 2026 at 10 AM.
