Obituary

Anne S. Matson, 77, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Saturday, June 26th, 2021.

She was born in Worcester, MA on December 30th, to the late William and Evelyn (Fagerquist) Bowler. She was a graduate of Saint Peter's High School, and took business courses at Worcester State College, Worcester Junior College, and Quinsigamond Community College.

Before retirement, Anne worked for many years at Digital Equipment Corporation, one of the biggest employers in the area, and she was able to bring her family to great summer company picnics that they held at Canobie Lake Park.  She also worked at the Deasy & Dwyer Law Firm.

Anne greatly treasured her Irish-Catholic heritage.  In 1964, at a celebration honoring Saint Patrick, she was crowned Miss Hibernia by the Ancient Order of Hibernians in front of a standing-room-only crowd of 1000 guests.

Anne enjoyed time with her family, as well as visiting friends for lunch, ice cream, and shopping.  She enjoyed going to the Ogunquit Playhouse, Boston, Quebec, the White Mountains, and on trips with the Merrimack Parks and Recreation Department.  She was an avid gardener and loved being a member of the Merrimack Garden Club.  She also enjoyed being a member of the "Red Hat Society".

In addition to her parents, Anne was predeceased by three siblings, William, Margaret, and Nancy.

She will be forever loved and remembered for her kindness, caring ways, and sense of humor by her husband of 51 years, George; daughter, Deborah (Peter); son, Eric (Kate); stepdaughters Kristin (Scott) Button and Karen (Alfred) Brown; a sister, Karen (Mike); brothers-in-law Daniel and Dan; grandchildren Julia, Ryan, Caleb, Joshua, Daniel, Emily, Hannah, and Micah; great-grandchildren Ivy, Eliza, Judah, Jeremiah, and Patrick; and by her cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many close friends and neighbors.

In accordance with Anne's wishes, all funeral services will be held privately for the family.
