Barbara Gillan Sherrard Place passed Saturday June 18th, 2022 after a period of declining health. She was the wife of Abbott L. Michael Place of Merrimack, NH and mother of Brendan M. Place of Milford, NH and his life partner Danyel Chapman.

Barbara was born in Watervliet, NY and was predeceased by her first husband Andrew Sherrard of Boston, MA as well as her parents John W. and Mary (Deveny) Gillan of Watervliet, NY. She also lost her loving daughter Kerry M. Zabel of Missoula, Montana in July of last year.

Barb attended St. Bridget grade school, Catholic Central H.S. in Troy NY, and the college of st Rose Albany NY.

Barbara is survived by her husband Abbott Michael Place of forty-seven years as well as her loving son Brendan Place and his fiancée Danyel Chapman.

Barb was totally devoted to being a loving wife and mother. She was deeply involved in all of her son's school and extracurricular activities. She loved playing Scrabble and watching Jeopardy. Barbara loved cinema and reading. She was passionate about politics and followed it the way others follow sports. She also delighted in rescuing many, many cats and dogs in her lifetime, most especially her beloved cat Pumpkin, who she had lost several years ago.
