Barbara M. (Young) Rafferty, 94, of Bedford NH and former longtime resident of Merrimack and Milford, NH passed away on Saturday, May 11th, 2024 at Bedford Hills Nursing Home after a period of declining health.

Born in Nashua, NH on August 2nd, 1929, Barbara was one of 8 children to the late Francis and Esmerelda (Chates) Young. Raised in Manchester, she was a graduate of Central High School.

Barbara was a hairdresser for many years and owned Barbara's Beauty Bar in Merrimack until the mid-1980's, but continued to cut hair for many friends, family members and loved ones after she retired.

She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Daniel Rafferty, Jr. on May 10th, 2016 along with two siblings, Albert Young and Alberta Soucier.

Surviving family members include two sons, Daniel F. Rafferty and his wife Rhonda, and Dennis Rafferty and his wife Carolyn; six grandchildren, Mike, Mark and his best friend Danielle Perugini, Jennifer, Heather Dionne and her husband Steve, Melissa Radford and her husband Scott, and Christine Seelig and her best friend John Theriault; 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Labore, Helen Grant and Virginia White, two brothers, Frank Young and his wife Lori, and George Young, along with many nieces and nephews.

Memorial calling hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Monday May 20th from 5 - 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mercy, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack on Tuesday May 21st at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at 3 PM at the NH State Veteran's Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
