Carl
Leduc
May 10, 1941 – February 23, 2024
Carl Lawrence LeDuc, 82, of Merrimack, NH passed away on February 23rd, 2024.
Carl was born in Revere, MA on May 10th, 1941, the youngest son of the late Ernest and Gladys (Dobbins) LeDuc. Carl grew up in Stoneham, MA and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School (Class of 1959). He attended the University of New Hampshire and obtained a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Prior to retirement, Carl worked as a claim adjuster for Traveler's Insurance for 36 years. As a young man, Carl was an excellent athlete and attended UNH on a football scholarship. When he was 21 years old, Carl signed a professional contract to play baseball for the Milwaukee Braves organization. In 1991, Carl was inducted into the Malden Catholic High School Sports Hall of Fame for football, baseball, and basketball.
Carl lived a life marked with kindness, love, and compassion - he was a devoted father, grandfather, and husband, who would proudly share his love of family with anyone willing to listen. Carl's enthusiasm for Christmas was infectious and his joy in seeing everyone gathered together opening gifts would light up a room. His sweet gentle nature, hearty belly laugh, and his love of cookies might even make someone wonder if they were actually in the presence of Santa Claus.
During his free time, Carl loved to travel with his late wife, Alice (O'Donnell) LeDuc. They traveled all over the world, but especially loved going to his favorite vacation spot, Aruba. He was also an avid collector of 45 rpm records from the 1950s and 60s with a particular interest in the Doo-wop music of his youth. In 2007 Carl and Alice retired to Naples, FL, there he became an avid golfer, even achieving a hole-in-one and also winning a golf tournament with his son. As a true Bostonian, Carl remained a steadfast fan of all the Boston Professional Sports Teams and proudly displayed pictures of many hometown heroes in his home.
Sadly, Carl is predeceased by his wife Alice (O'Donnell) LeDuc; his parents, Ernest, and Gladys LeDuc; and a brother, Ernest " Ernie" LeDuc. He will be remembered by his four children, Craig LeDuc (of North Andover, MA), Richard LeDuc (of Dracut, MA), Meredith LeDuc (of Merrimack, NH), and Patricia Ferrari and her husband Robert (of Tewksbury, MA); two grandchildren, Caroline, and Mckenzie Ferrari; a brother, Ralph LeDuc (of Middleton, MA); and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on April 20th from 1pm-5pm at the The Chateau - Burlington, 43 Middlesex Turnpike Burlington MA, please join the family in remembering Carl's incredible life. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carl's memory to the Jimmy Fund charity.
