Charles E.
Murphy
December 19, 1934 – December 28, 2025
Charles E. Murphy, 91, longtime resident of Merrimack, NH died Sunday December 28th, 2025 at his home, with his loving wife by his side, after a short illness.
He was born in Hooksett, NH on December 19th, 1934, son of the late Charles J. and Dorothy M. (Leslie) Murphy.
Before retirement, he was employed for many years as a RF Microwave Engineer for Sanders Associates, Lockheed Sanders, and BAE.
Charlie was a man of many interests. He spent time in the Army reserves in the Special Forces Unit. For many years he introduced students to the Martial Arts in his Karate studio. A 2nd degree Black Belt, his dojo is where he and his wife Wendi first met. He was an avid hiker and a member of the 4,000 footers in NH. Kayaking became a new hobby, and his wife took many pictures of him kayaking NH rivers, often upside down at times, trying to master the roll. He was always laughing as he resurfaced. In later years he and his wife enjoyed annual vacations at various NH cabins by the lake, fishing and enjoying nightly campfires. He was a voracious reader, enjoying philosophical pursuits especially. Most of all, he was a good man, and a gentleman above all else.
In addition to his parents, he is pre-deceased by two brothers, Ralph and Clarence, and a sister, Marlene.
Members of his surviving family include his wife of 50 years, Wendra L. (Buote) Murphy of Merrimack, four daughters, Jennifer Bilger, Cheryl Murphy, Robyn Skilton Murphy, and Shannon Murphy (Phoenix Song); three grandchildren Charlie, Mike and Joshua Murphy; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Cayden, Hailey, Aubree, Lucas and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Life will be held Saturday January 10th, 2026 from 4 - 5 PM at the Community Club House at Merrimack Meadows, 13 Hummingbird Lane, Merrimack. Charlie's favorite band, The Honey Bees will be entertaining with some of his favorite songs. Wendi, his wife, and their daughter Cheryl welcome all family and friends to come and celebrate his life.
