Claire Cluss (Hoelscher), 95 passed after a brief illness on Monday, October 11, 2021. Born in Paterson, New Jersey and raised in Haledon, she lived for 60 years in North Haledon before moving to Nashua, New Hampshire in 2013. She graduated from Central High School and then joined Dolphin Jute Mills as an executive secretary. After raising a family, she resumed office manager work at the Country Barn in Wycoff, NJ, followed by Levine and Yucht Accountants in Ridgewood, NJ. Our mother and Nana taught us the power of unconditional love, which was returned by all who knew her, especially her husband Edward M. Cluss, who passed in 2012. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage.
Claire was the dear mother of Ed and his wife Patti of Atherton, CA, Bob and his wife Karen of Cornwall, VT, and Carolyn and her husband Paul of Merrimack, NH. Loving Nana of Lindsay and John, Ashley and Jeff, Brett and Annette, Max, Tyler, Hannah and Carle, Mathew and Katie, Charlie and Jemma, Julia, and Owen. She was blessed with seven great grandchildren and two special nieces Karen and Noreen. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Minnie Hoelscher, and her sister, Irene Hartford.
Claire was known for her warmth and smile. She loved to laugh. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards and Mahjong with her many friends.
There will be no calling hours in New Jersey. A funeral service will be held Friday October 29 th at 9:30 am at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Prospect Park, NJ and burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery of Totowa, NJ.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Huntington at Nashua. Memorial donations may be sent to the Huntington Scholarship Fund of Nashua NH.
