David William
Contant
September 17, 1954 – March 26, 2021
On Friday, March 26, 2021, David William Contant, loving husband, Dad and Bumpie passed away at the age of 66 after a period of declining health.
David was born on September 17, 1954 in Melrose, MA to Richard and Helen (Hume) Contant. He grew up in Wakefield MA, where is love for football, playing in the Linn Village Drum Band and karate began. He graduated in 1973 at which time he joined the Army. He met his wife, Mirella Angela Watt and they married in January of 1975. He proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1976. David moved to Merrimack, NH, with his wife and daughter Kimberly. He obtaining his teaching degree from Franklin Pierce College and he taught for over 20 years, the last 16 at Clearway Alternative High School in Nashua, NH.
David made people laugh with his sense of humor and comedic behavior. His days were filled with riding his motorcycle, fishing, camping and spending time in Errol. His lyrical prose and love for music led him to cofounded the folk guitar duo Northern Sky with close friend Jon Sweatman. He continued his journey in Martial arts obtaining his 1 st degree black belt in Kempo Karate and Jiu Jitsu, and his 3 rd degree black belt in Enshudo Jyu Jitsu. He was a member of the Merrimack Veterans Color Guard for over 20 years, marching annually in the Memorial Day and 4 th of July parades. Most recently he enjoyed being with his grandsons and sharing his passions with them.
David was preceded in death by his father Richard and his mother Helen. He is survived by his wife Mirella, their daughter Kimberly Contant and her husband Ross Malaguti; his grandchildren Owen and Link; a brother, James Contant and his wife Gail; his nephew Daniel, his wife Jennifer, and their son Eli, along with many cousins, friends and neighbors.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in David's memory to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
