David Lewis

David "Dave" Lewis, born on May 5, 1943, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, to the late John and Ruth Lewis, passed away peacefully October 2, 2026.

Dave spent much of his childhood and early adult years in Nutley, New Jersey, where his signature mischief and lifelong love for all things motorized first began. He brought that passion for vehicles into the U.S. Army, serving proudly as a transport driver for the 27th Infantry. During his military service, he traveled the world, discovering a deep appreciation for international cuisine and foreign languages. Following his honorable discharge, Dave built a successful career in information technology, ultimately retiring as the Director of IT from Fidelity Investments in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

A corporate title or a military record could never fully encapsulate who Dave was.

He was a man who loved life, cherished his family, appreciated a good laugh, rooted fiercely for the Patriots, and adored anything with a motor. If it could fly, float, or go fast, chances are Dave owned it. He lived by one of his favorite sayings, “He who dies with the most toys wins,” and anyone who knew him would agree he gave that philosophy a highly respectable effort. Over the years, his collection boasted countless cars, boats, motorcycles, jet skis, snowmobiles, RVs, and even an airplane.

Dave was also remarkably handy and had all the tools to prove it. Whether he was tackling a project around the house, helping a friend or tinkering with one of his many toys, he had a natural knack for figuring out how things worked. He was never afraid to roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty, always willing to help anyone in need.

Beyond his tools and vehicles, Dave was a jokester through and through and well known for his wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and unique ability to turn an ordinary moment into an unforgettable story. Whether he was sharing a punchline, offering his own distinct brand of wisdom, or simply making people smile, Dave left an indelible impression on everyone he met.

Dave was predeceased by his son, Gregory Lewis. His family finds great comfort in knowing they are together again, riding motorcycles and dirt bikes with laughter trailing behind them.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Karen Lewis; his son, Matthew Lewis and his partner Sue Beaupre; his daughter, Taryn Swenson and her husband, Derek; the absolute apples of his eye, his granddaughters, Alivia and Noelle Swenson; his sister, Diane Button and her husband, Robert; and his nieces, Kristin, Amy, Bethany, and their families.

A celebration of Dave's life will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home located at 425 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack, NH, on November 7th from 11 AM – 1 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave's memory to Wounded Warrior Project or Fisher House of Charleston, SC.
