David Nigg, 55, of Merrimack, New Hampshire took off to the stars on Monday, January 22nd, 2024, after a valiant fight against cancer. His last days were surrounded by family and friends, both human and feline, and comforted greatly by the wonderful staff of Home Health & Hospice Care of Merrimack.

Emerging from a childhood dream of being an astronaut, Dave graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell with a degree in electrical engineering and settled into a career in space systems engineering at BAE Systems (formerly known as GE, Martin Marietta, Lockhead Martin) which he held for over thirty years. He was a lifelong nerd whose passions included Star Wars, rocket launches, and science shows on Nova. Dave was also a huge New England sports fan, with the Patriots being his favorite. In recent years, one of his biggest joys was his weekly pickleball dates with Jen, his wife of thirty-two years who was his best friend and constant travel companion.

Dave is survived by his wife Jennifer, their beloved children Valerie Nigg of New York, NY (married to Brandon Hall), Emma Nigg of Merrimack, NH; his parents Robert and Chong Nigg of Bellingham, MA; his younger brother Gary of Harvard, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dave will be remembered for his dedication to his family, friends, and career, as well as his good-humored competitive spirit and ready supply of dad jokes.

Visitation will be held at Rivet Funeral Home located at 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, NH 03054 on Saturday January 27th, 2024, from 9 – 11 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering the warmth, kindness, and love that Dave brought into the world.
