Donald Lyons, 69, of Merrimack passed away on Thursday October 24, 2013 at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody, MA after a long illness.

He was born on April 6, 1944 in Malden, MA, to the late William and Dorothy (O'Leary) Lyons.

Mr. Lyons served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Da Nang, Viet Nam in 1969, and later worked as a budget officer and an assistant fiscal officer in various VA hospitals including Manchester NH, Brockton MA and in the central office in Washington, D.C.

He is predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth and Gene Lyons.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia (Kenny) Lyons; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jonathan Lyons of Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Matthew and his wife Katie Lyons of Denver, CO; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Freel, Graham Lyons, and Joshua Chase; three brothers, William Lyons of Leesburg, FL, Robert Lyons of Deltona, FL, and John Lyons of Clearwater, FL; two sisters, Kathleen Murphy of Billerica, MA and Mary Baker of Malden, MA; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Sunday October 27 from 5 – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack on Monday at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Last Rest Cemetery.
