Donald J.
Vanecek, Sr.
August 11, 1938 – December 14, 2021
Donald J. Vanecek, Sr., 83, of Nashua passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14 th , 2021 at the Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua after a brief illness.
He was born in Flushing, NY on August 11 th , 1938 to the late Charles and Helena (Schnell) Vanecek. Donald was raised in College Point, NY and graduated from Bishop Loughlin High School. He then went to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from the University of New York.
Donald worked for many years as a merchandiser for CDMA in New York, NY and retired in 1995. In his retirement, he was fondly known as "Mr. Don" as he worked as a lunch monitor in the Nashua School District for many years.
Everyone who knew "Grampy" shared in the joy he brought to everything, and we are all better people for having known and loved him
Along with his parents, Donald was pre-deceased by his brother, Charles Vanecek.
He will be forever loved and remembered as a wonderful husband by his wife of 59 years, Maryann (Wellman) Vanecek; As a loving, and caring Dad to his three children, Maryellen Vanecek, Donald J. Vanecek, Jr. and his wife Melinda, and Kathryn (Vanecek) Duffy; As a beloved, funny, and amazing Grampy to his four grandchildren, Erin (Duffy) Boucher and husband Brett, Thomas "TJ" Duffy and partner Libby Howard, Lauren (Vanecek) Manzano and husband Jaime, and Danny Vanecek; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Joey Manzano; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Vanecek and Geralyn Clark along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Monday, December 20 th , 2021 from 4 – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Church, 708 Milford Road, Merrimack NH on Tuesday, December 21 st at 10:00 AM.
