Obituary

Dorothy O. Koitzsch, 85 of Nashua NH died Friday Feb. 20, 2026 at Fairview Nursing Home in Hudson, NH after a period of declining health.

She was born in Willimantic, CT on July 13, 1940, the youngest daughter of the late Theodore J. and Blanche (Gagné) Martin.

Dot met the love of her life, Thomas Koitzsch, at the age of 17 on a blind date and married him on May 28, 1960, sharing 48 years of marriage. She was a homemaker and mother to 4 children. She was a devout Catholic who was very active at St. Peter's parish in Rosendale, NY, and worked in the CCD ministry. She was a charter member of the Alligerville, NY Volunteer Fire Department in the ladies auxiliary. Dot loved to cook, with her specialty being a 5-layer lasagna. She also catered many birthday parties, graduations, weddings, and other gatherings for her family and friends. Dot was well known for her crocheting skills and made thousands of afghans over her lifetime which she gifted to her family, friends and charitable organizations, including; Bundles for Babies, NH Girl Scouts and the Veterans of NH.  Because of her donations to the veterans Dot was recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution in November 2021 for excellence in community service. She also loved the outdoors, especially gardening of both her flowers and vegetables. Dot also loved a good BBQ, camping, fishing and long walks with her family.

Along with her parents, Dot is predeceased by her husband Thomas F. Koitzsch (2008) ; Her sisters Blanche and Antoinette; her brother Joseph: her sister-in-law Joan (Koitzsch) Knudsen and brother-in -law Clifford Knudsen.

Members of Dot's surviving family include: Son Thomas F. Koitzsch Jr., his wife Julie and their daughter Samantha, of Amherst, NH, Daughter Katherine A. Greenblatt her husband Ian of Punta Gorta, FL and her daughter Nicole Penning of Long Island , NY., Daughter Laurie A. Quick and her daughter Alyssa of Nashua, NH, Son Kenneth C. Koitzsch his wife Milyn their daughter Ashley and their son Kenneth Jr. of Nashua, NH, Niece Maryjane Knudsen of Alligerville, NY, Niece Eileen Houghtaling and her husband George of Alligerville, NY, 4 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several other nieces and nephews.

Calling hours held on Thursday March 05, 2026, at Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH from 5-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Rd, Merrimack NH on Friday March 6th, 2026, at 9:30 AM.

A graveside service will be held in Benton Bar Cemetery, High Falls, NY at a time to be determined later.
