Edna B.
Klardie
March 16, 1925 – October 26, 2023
Edna B. Klardie, 98, longtime resident of Merrimack, NH passed away on Thursday, October 26th, 2023 at the Fairview Nursing Home in Hudson, NH after a short period of declining health. She was the widow of William J. Klardie who pre-deceased her on April 14th, 2000.
Born in Manchester, NH on March 16th, 1925, she was one of five children to Ralph and Mildred (Dickey) Burbank. Along with her husband William, Edna was pre-deceased by a daughter, Carol Weaver; her four siblings, Leroy and Earl Burbank, Ruth Watkins, Ida Heath and a granddaughter-in-law, Renee Weaver.
Forever cherishing her memory are her two children, Dan Klardie and his wife Jeni, Gail and her husband Gary MacGuire; and Edna's niece, Rachel Watkins. Five grandchildren, Douglas and his wife Allison, Ashley and her husband Matt, Cory and his wife Shayna, Nash and Thomas and his wife Nancy; ten great-grandchildren, Emily, Jacob, Tori, Maddie, Violet, Juniper, Reid, Graham, Sloane, and Callan along with several nieces and nephews will miss her.
In Edna's early twenties, she worked in the Chicopee Mills, a division of the Amoskeag Industries of Manchester as a doffer. After marrying, she lived at Ralston Research Purina Farm in Merrimack staying home to care for their three children. In 1961, the family bought their own home close by Pilgrim Furniture, later becoming Yield House, where she worked until retirement. She especially enjoyed managing Pilgrim Hall hosting many Lions Club functions and other events such as weddings.
Edna's joy was her family and friends, of which she had many. She had a unique way of making everyone feel special. People young and old gravitated toward her and became lifelong friends. In her later years, she enjoyed the simple things of life, her flowers and birds.
A private graveside service will be held in Last Rest Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
For those who would like to make a memorial contribution in Edna's honor, you may do so to Easter Seals New Hampshire in remembrance of her daughter, Carol.
