Obituary

Edward Janas, 92, lifelong resident of Merrimack, NH passed away on Thursday, August 4 th , 2022 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a period of declining health.

He was born in Merrimack, NH on January 8 th , 1930, son of the late Jacob and Mary Janas. He was a graduate of Merrimack High School in 1949.

Ed served his country in the U.S. Navy before transferring to the Air Force. Upon an honorable discharge, he went to work for Textron Associates for 32 years and then for Exothermic, Inc. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 98 in Merrimack and also the Merrimack Senior Club. He also enjoyed gardening, going on trips with the Senior Club and he raised Homing Pigeons & Rollers.

Along with his parents, Ed was pre-deceased by a son, John A. Janas in 1977 along with 3 brothers, 5 sisters and a brother-in-law.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Jacqueline, with whom they just celebrated their 56 th wedding anniversary on July 18 th ; a son, Master Chief Petty Officer Robert Janas, Retired and his wife Roberta of FL; daughter Patricia Girouard of Merrimack; grandchildren, Master Sargant Christopher Girouard and his wife Kendra of PA, David Rushing of AL, Robert and Heather Taylor of FL and James Taylor of FL; 11 great-granddaughters; 3 great-grandsons; 1 great-great-grandson; 2 great-great-granddaughters along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside service with Air Force military honors will be held at Last Rest Cemetery, 13 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack, NH on Thursday, August 11 th at 11 AM.
