Elaine
Mcgonagle
December 21, 1958 – May 15, 2024
Elaine M McGonagle, 65, of Merrimack, NH passed away on May 15, 2024, after a brave fight with cancer.
No words can capture what Elaine meant to her loved ones. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and big laugh.
Elaine was born and raised in Providence, RI as the youngest child in a big family that gave her many cherished memories. She attended Rhode Island College where she met her loving husband, Chuck. They eventually settled in Merrimack, NH, where they raised a family of their own. She explored many interests and lived many lives, but the title she loved most was Mom. She spent many fun-filled years wrangling her four children and a slew of their neighborhood friends, because everyone knew the McGonagle house was the best house to hang out at. Elaine went above and beyond to give her family a life filled with love, laughs, and ridiculously good food.
When her children were old enough to stay home without lighting the house on fire (except that one time), Elaine took the leap into small business ownership. She bought and ran Olympic Video in Merrimack, where she enjoyed getting to know much of the town and forgiving their late fees. Eventually Elaine's lifelong interest in medicine led her to work in admin roles at several medical practices that were part of Foundation Medical. She made it her mission to give every patient the respect they deserved and the friendly face they needed. All along the way, she spread that same kindness to everyone she met, because Elaine could find a friend in anyone.
She got so much joy from appreciating the little things: spending time with her sister Tish, watching the bird's nest outside her window, and spoiling the many rescue dogs she adopted. She was no stranger to adventure, enjoying several trips to Europe with Chuck to visit their daughter.
Elaine's joyful and generous spirit will be carried on by the many loved ones she leaves behind: her devoted husband of 43 years, Charles McGonagle; her four children and their spouses who she loved like they were her own, Michael and his wife Lauren, Ryan and his wife Erin, Kyle and his wife Abigail, and Meaghan and her husband Jonathan; her three grandchildren Magnus, Lucy, and Edith who had almost as much fun playing with their Nana as she had playing with them; her sister and best friend Elizabeth "Tish" Fahey; and her brother and sister William Fahey and Mary Fahey. She is now with her beloved late parents, Thomas and Jean Fahey, and her late brother Thomas "Bo" Fahey, and Buddy, the best dog who ever lived.
Friends and loved ones are invited to remember Elaine during calling hours at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH on Tuesday May 28, 2024, from 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 29th at 9:30 AM at the Our Lady of Mercy Church located at 16 Baboosic Lake Rd in Merrimack, NH with a burial to follow at Last Rest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Elaine's legacy of kindness by making donations in her name to the Nashua Humane Society or the American Parkinson Disease Association.
