Elizabeth "Liz" Catherine (Hanlon) Lochman left this life on Thursday, May 18th, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in 1939 in Medford, MA to the late William and Alice (Cullen) Hanlon.
The youngest of four children, she graduated from St. Joseph school in Medford in 1953. She entered the Dominican Sisters Convent of St. Catherine of Sinea in Louisville KY as sister Mary Immaculate. She was later assigned to teach at St. Simon & Jude school in Brooklyn, NY, where she taught for seven years.
After the death of her father, she left the order and returned to her home in Medford. She worked as the receptionist for her brother-in-law's business in Newton, MA where she met her loving husband, Kurt Lochman. They were married on September 8th, 1973. They lived in Woburn, MA for ten years before buying their home in Merrimack, NH in 1983 and became very active in Our Lady of Mercy Parish. Liz became the director of religious education, which she continued until her retirement. Among her tasks was
to oversee the A.C.T. Kindergarten Program, the youth religious education programs, she taught the RCIA program for adults along with her husband. Both Liz and Kurt were Eucharistic Ministers for many years.
Liz loved flower arrangement. She was an avid reader and loved to cook. She adored her grandchildren and always loved hearing about their three grandchildren and cherished being with them.
Along with her parents, Liz was predeceased by her two brothers and sister.
She will be forever loved and remembered by her husband of almost 50 years, Kurt Lochman; two children, Michael William Lochman, his wife Shelley and their two children, Collin and Owen of New Boston, NH and Catherine Elizabeth Smith, her husband Arthur Smith and their daughter Molly of Concord, NH along with several nieces and nephews.
Liz will be greatly missed by her husband and family as well as her many friends at Our Lady of Mercy.
Calling hours will be at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, NH on Thursday, May 25th from 4 - 6 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack on Friday, May 26th at 9:30 AM with burial to immediately follow at Last Rest Cemetery, Baboosic Lake Rd., Merrimack NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Liz's memory can be made to the Animal Rescue League of NH, 545 State Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110.
