It is with profound sadness that the family of Gary Marquis announce his passing. He was born in June 1960 to Raymond Marquis and Louise (Lemay) Guertin.

A lifelong Nashua resident, his career as a hardworking man started at Producer's Dairy when he was a teen. From there he worked at Gate City Fence Co. where he was taught life skills from a company that quickly became family. Having learned from the best gave him the confidence to start Marquis Fence with his wife Jeanne in the mid 1980's.  For 20 years in the off season of the fence business he sold Christmas trees at The Big 1 Ice Cream Stand. Continuing the tradition of being his own boss, he and Jeanne purchased The Big 1 in North Nashua which they have run succesfully for 23 years.

He took great pleasure in feeding people. Family, friends and employees often enjoyed gallons of turkey soup, trays of mac n cheese and pounds of apple crisp. His greatest meals were reserved for his granddaughters Emma Rose and Sadie Grace. Emma would watch as he made her scrambled eggs with cheese and Sadie would bat her eyelashes at him for prime rib.

Gary will be remembered lovingly by his family including his mother Louise Guertin, his wife of 38 years, Jeanne, his two daughters Jennifer Marquis and Alyssa Heinstrom, his son in law Derek Heinstrom, his grandaughters Emma and Sadie; sisters Denise Gagne and her husband Bob, Teri Hebert and her husband Peter and Sandy Stone, many loving nephews, nieces and many close friends.

Gary was predeceased by his father Raymond Marquis in 2006.

At Gary's request, services will be private. In lieu of flowers his family requests that donations be made to The Nashua Firemans Relief Association at 70 E. Hollis St, Nashua NH 03060.
