Obituary

Harold W. Watson, 90, of Merrimack, NH died Sunday June 2, 2013 after a brief illness.
He was born in Nashua, NH on April 27, 1923 a son of the late Harold R. and Rose (McGuiness) Watson.
Mr. Watson was a retired Air Force Lt. Col with over 22 years of service. He received two Purple Hearts and over 25 other awards and decorations. Harold served as a Command Pilot in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam with more than 2,000,000 miles in the air. He also flew over 200 missions during the Berlin Airlift, more than any other pilot. His last assignment in the Air Force was at the Hanscom Air Force Base as Administrator of Research and Development.
Mr. Watson was active on the local town level having served on various boards, committees and study groups, including Selectman's Advisory Council. He served as a NH State Representative and a Merrimack Planning Board member for several years. Harold also served on the Horse Hill Nature Preserve Committee, and in 2006 Harold and Barbara Watson donated the Harold and Barbara Watson Park to the Town of Merrimack. Also in 2006, they were awarded the Humanitarian Award in recognition of valuable contributions to their community by the NH Charitable foundation.
He was also an avid supporter of the National Presidential and State Republican candidates.
Mr. Watson was Director of the New England Aeronautical Institute which he later passed legislation to have it renamed as Daniel Webster College. He also provides five scholarships to graduating Seniors of Merrimack High School each year.

Other life accomplishments include real estate developing with Samuel Tamposi and Gerald Nash, which included Continental Blvd in Merrimack. He owned and operated Camp Wampanoag on Cape Cod.
Harold enjoyed family and friends and was a lover of nature. He enjoyed traveling worldwide and lived in several different countries, but loved New Hampshire best.
He is the widower of Geraldine Watson who died in 1989.
Members of his family include his wife, Barbara (Peterson) Condon Watson, of Merrimack, a son Gary Watson and his wife Jacqueline of Merrimack, a daughter, Patricia Wilson and her husband Everett of Nashua; six grandchildren, Daniel, Stanley and Scott Watson, and David and Steven Wilson, and Lyndsay Roberts; twelve great-grandchildren; step-son, Christopher Condon and his wife Michelle, step-daughters, Cynthia Agri, and Cheryl Condon, and 2 step-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be in the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH Thursday June 6 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held in the First Congregational Church, 7 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack Friday at 10 AM. Burial with full Military Honors will be in Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Joseph Community Services in Merrimack, Wounded Warrior Project, Humane Society for Greater Nashua, or a charity of one's choice.
