He passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 27th, 2022. Born December 27, 1949 to Phyllis and Thomas Lanigan, he was the first of 5 brothers and 1 sister born to them, he also had 2 half brothers and grew up in Stoneham, MA.  As a teenager he was into cars, was a talented artist, and even played the trombone. Jim met Dot, the love of his life, while in high school and they were married for 53 years, more than 30 of which they lived in Merrimack, NH. They had 3 children, son James Jr., daughter Randi and son Michael.

Jim was an avid photographer and very much enjoyed roaming the sidelines of his children's sporting events or making them pose and pose longer for pictures in front of the Christmas tree. He continued this tradition with his grandchildren, and would always have his camera handy at any family event, no matter how small.  He appreciated sun rises and sunsets. He was a master mechanic in his own right and he taught his children well how to hold flashlights and fetch screwdrivers. Jim loved movies and music, he believed Daniel Craig was the best James Bond. He loved to read Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler novels. He loved the Patriots, and loved watching Tom and Gronk, but Bruschi was his guy.

Jim and Dot spent 20 plus years camping at Terrace Pines in Center Ossipee, NH.  It was their thing, it's where they made their friends, sat by the fire, went out on the boat and made countless great memories. Jim was always helping someone with a project or helping fix what needed to be fixed, because that's who he was. Jim was there when he was needed.

Semper Paratus, Master Chief United States Coast Guard James R. Lanigan retired after 32 years of service. He enjoyed his retirement by purchasing his dream car, a 1989 midnight blue Corvette. He continued to work for 20 more years and he eventually found his niche working on campers for Campers Inn in Merrimack where he was a long time employee. Recently he actually retired, but still continued to do some jobs because that's what he did.

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife, his children, Steve, Kristin and Wanda, his 7 grandchildren and great granddaughter, his brothers and sister, his nieces and nephews, his friends and his beloved dog Mylo, all of whom he loved unconditionally.  We will especially miss his laugh and his great hugs. We will all have to do as he said and take one day at a time and be grateful for all the good times we shared.
