James "Jim" J. MacLeod, 79, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a courageous battle with cancer spanning a total of 18 years.

He was born in Chelsea, MA on August 17, 1945 to the late John H. and Margaret (O'Donnell) MacLeod. He attended Wellesley Senior High School and received his Bachelors of Science in Education degree from Fitchburg State College.

Jim started his teaching career in Littleton, MA and then became a Math and Industrial Arts teacher at Fairgrounds Jr. High and Elm Street Jr. High in Nashua, NH for many years before retiring in 2003. During the summers Jim was the general manager at Jasper Valley Swim and Tennis Club where he enjoyed running swim meets and helping young children improve on their tennis game. Jim also enjoyed fishing, skiing, and participating in competitive rifle shooting. Other joys in his life were searching for the best steak restaurant, perfecting his grilled barbecue rib recipe, and the consumption of bacon. He spent years exploring the world with Diane and cherishing time with his family. His stories and advice were always enjoyed and will live in our hearts as we remember him. He will be missed very much by everyone whose life he touched with his kindness.

Along with his parents, he was pre-deceased by a brother, John MacLeod.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of  34 years Diane (Belanger) MacLeod; five children, Jim M. MacLeod and his wife Jess, Heather Coleman and her husband Bill, Hollie Kelley and her partner Tom Ostrander, Corey Eldridge and his wife Diane, Kristy and her husband Dennis Coughlin; 10 grandchildren, Hailey, Tabitha, Kassidy, Shannon, Merrill, Violet, Xavier, Kaita, Eleanor and Charlie; three siblings, Kathy and her husband John Fritts, Bonnie and her husband Carl Maurice and Bob MacLeod, along with several nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Monday, December 16th from 11AM – 12:30PM. A brief service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:30PM.
