Janice Carol Housman

Janice C. Housman, 83 of Merrimack, NH, passed away on Sunday, September 27th, 2026, at the Community Hospice House after a period of declining health.

She was born in Chicago, IL on October 25th, 1942, to the late Max Hendricks and Virginia (Swope) Logan. Raised in Chicago, Janice graduated from Amundsen High School and continued her education at Missouri Valley College where she obtained her associate and bachelor’s degree. After college, Janice worked at the St. James Methodist Church as a preschool and kindergarten teacher for many years.

In her free time Janice enjoyed reading, baking, going to the YMCA and DW Diner with her friends, traveling, especially her summer trips to Hampton Beach and the Outer Banks, working the concession stand during football games, but most importantly spending time with her family including her “grand pups”. She often volunteered at her grandchildren’s school and was a surrogate “Mamie” to many.

In addition to her parents Janice is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Walter H. Housman Jr (2004).

Janice will be forever loved and remembered by her two sons, Walter Housman and Michael Housman and his wife Michelle; her daughter Nancy Zanella and her husband Tony; her three grandchildren, Sydney and Jackson Housman and Riley Zanella; her sister Nancy Logan; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home located at 425 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack, NH on Friday, October 2nd, 2026, from 4 – 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Janice’s memory can be made to the Community Hospice House through Home Health and Hospice.
