Jessie G. (Wells) Haigler, 71, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Monday July 13, 2026, at Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua, NH after a long illness.
She was born in Cambridge, MA on May 2, 1955, a daughter of the late Robert Allen Wells Sr. and Shirley (Marland) Picard.
To know Jessie was to know a love that was absolute, unconditional, and completely selfless.
For over 30 beautiful years, Jessie was a deeply loving and devoted wife, building a home anchored in partnership, warmth, and laughter. As a mother and grandmother, her family was her entire world—her devotion to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was truly second to none.
Though she successfully ran her own cleaning business for many years, her heart always called her back to her truest calling. She happily returned to her greatest passion: nurturing, protecting, and caring for children.
Jessie’s capacity to care reached far beyond her own living room. Over the course of 20 years, she opened her arms and her home to 45 foster children, providing them with safety, comfort, and a soft place to land. Her generosity of spirit truly knew no limits.
Jessie lived her life with an open heart, leaving behind a legacy of kindness that will be forever cherished by the countless lives she touched.
In addition to her parents, she is pre-deceased by a son Jason Hugh Sr who died in 2025; and her two brothers Robert “Bob” Wells and Richard Wells.
Members of Jessie’s surviving family include her husband David Haigler; her daughter Lisa Hugh-Borden; her son Douglas Hugh and his wife Christine; eight grandchildren, Sabrina Spirito and her husband Nicholas; Jason Hugh Jr and his wife Paige; Zachary Hugh and his wife Danielle; Micheal Banks and his significant other Kaylee Scott; Alicia Hugh; David Banks; Jonathan Borden; and Mia Hugh; three great-grandchildren, Kaiden Asigri, Amelia Spirito, and Elliot Hugh; four brothers, Ernie Wells, Joe Picard and his wife Debra, Norman and Steven Picard; two sisters, Cindy Hugh and her husband Doland “Joey”, and Laura Farino and her husband David; and several nieces and nephews.
