Joan C.
Pitman
January 4, 1947 – August 4, 2022
Joan "Joni" Pitman, 75, of Milford, NH passed away on Thursday, August 4 th , 2022 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.
As Joni was facing the reality of the end of her life, a friend asked if she had any regrets; her response was, "I raised three smart, good kids. I am happy, and I have no regrets." This no-nonsense answer fits her perfectly. The most important things in Joni's life were her children. She invested all of her energy and care into their well-being and pushed them to succeed. She attended every game for every sport for all of her kids, no matter how early they were - and some of those hockey games were early. This continued through her grandchildren, as well.
Joni was an avid Patriots fan, although she never forgave them for letting Tom Brady go. She also followed the Celtics and Bruins but wasn't a big baseball fan.
She worked in finance for her entire career. She was 20 years in banking and 22 years at the Manchester Airport. When she was not at work, she was busy pursuing other things. She was an avid tole painter. Her art adorns many walls and Christmas trees in New England and throughout the US. Every holiday when decorations are pulled from storage will be a time of remembrance as we see the beautiful gifts she has left for us.
She started taking walks when she got her first dog almost 30 years ago. This evolved into what some might call an obsession. She walked miles every day, in all types of weather; she walked through the years with her own dogs, her granddogs, her neighbor's dogs, and sometimes, just on her own. She found spin and Zumba at local gyms and started attending classes - sometimes two per day. Here, she made lifelong friends.
Joni was never one to hold back when she had something to share if she thought it would help. She was always there to offer her support and guidance. She had an uncanny ability to remember that thing you pointed out or mentioned you might want all those months ago - it would end up wrapped and under the tree or on the table for your birthday. Joni leaves behind three children, Debbie, her husband Steve and children Darby and Jimmy; Steven, his wife Andrea, and their children Jake and Kate; and Jim and his children Madylin and Jaysyn. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Mary Pitman, and brothers Jim, Ray, and Ken Pitman. She also leaves behind many friends, neighbors, and others whose lives she has touched.
I am glad Joni had no regrets because she gave life all she had and then some. She will truly be missed by us all.
