Johann M.
Plante
October 29, 1938 – December 30, 2023
Johann M. Plante, 85, longtime resident of Merrimack, NH passed away on December 30, 2023, at home after a period of declining health.
She was born in Cambridge, MA, on October 29, 1938, the daughter of the late Romeo Committo and Irene (White) Hoenigke and attended Mt Saint Mary Academy in Fall River, MA.
Johann was a resident of Westboro, MA before moving to Merrimack in 1978. She was a natural salesperson working for many years in the Bedford area before taking on her favorite role of being a full-time grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Johann is predeceased by her husband of 62 years Paul V. Plante who passed away in June of 2023.
Johann is survived by her two sons and a daughter in-law, Jason Plante of Florida and Jordan Plante and his wife Lynda of Concord, NH; six grandchildren, Maggie Ayers, Ashley, Sydney and Jacob Plante, Nicholas Requarth, Katie Justason and three great grandchildren, Charlie and Ellie Requarth and Timothy Miller; Goddaughter Alyssa Metz-Tapodas; three brothers, Robert Committo of Rhode Island, Charles Hoenigke of Florida, Curtis Hoenigke of California and one sister Cathleen McCormack of Rhode Island; good friends Sandra and Ed McCann, Sheila Smith and Sue Martin; former daughter-in-law Diane Plante; and several nieces and nephews.
Johann, who was fondly known to many as Rikki, was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and getting to know the many friends and families that the sports brought together; she never wanted to miss an event. Johann took pleasure in collecting knick knacks, if you've every been in her home you would know. She loved a bargain from TJ's or Marshalls, the beach, and meeting new people. Always the best dressed in the room, Johann would be considered an influencer by today's standard.
Johann will also be admiringly remembered by many for her stylish silver boy cut hair, her love of black and white, and her many brooches.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Frederick Briccette, Dr. Masooma Anthar and Dr. Su K. Metcalfe for all they did for Johann. Our family would also like to thank the Hospice care team at the VNA of Manchester and Southern New Hampshire
There are no calling hours. The Rivet Funeral home & Crematorium in Merrimack, NH is assisting our family. A Service and Celebration of life for both Johann and Paul will be held in the spring.
