Obituary

John R. Charette, 82, of Hudson, NH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6th, 2026 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a period of declining health.

Born in Portland, ME on May 24th, 1944, he was one of four children to the late Adrian and Marjorie (Gilpatrick) Charette. He was raised in Nashua, graduated from Alvirne High School and attended classes at Rivier College.

John held various production positions in several manufacturing companies, working his way up to General Manager to round out his career in electronics.

John was a true lover of nature and an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, gardening, and birdwatching. He was fascinated with animal behaviors and believed strongly in conservation. John had a gift for softening heavy moments. He lit up a room with his laughter and wit, truly enjoying the time he spent with others. Outside of home and family John loved to play poker, not only for the game, but for the friendships he made along the way. He made a lasting impression and will always be remembered for standing up for what he believed, his genuine honesty, and his infectious sense of humor.

Along with his parents, he was pre-deceased by two brothers, Adrian “Don” and Phil Charette.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Joyce (Vachon) Charette; two sons, Glen Charette and his wife Renee and Eric Charette, Sr.; a sister Darlene Parkhurst; a cousin, Chris Gilpatrick, who was brought up with him from an early age; four grandchildren, Brianna, Casey, Jennifer and Eric Jr. who fondly called him P.J. along with cousins, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Last Rest Cemetery, 13 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack on Wednesday, October 14th, 2026 at 11 AM.
