John Rogers Donahue Jr, 80, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Tuesday, September 29th, 2026, at his home after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester, NH on March 3rd, 1946, to the late John Rogers Donahue Sr and Louise (Wallace) Donahue. John was raised in Bedford, NH and attended West High School Class of 65. After high school he worked for Foster Beef and eventually ended his working years with his favorite role as a custodian for the Windham Center School for many years until his retirement in 2001.
John was a happy person with a great sense of humor and always had an upbeat, positive attitude. He was an inspiration to many and built a relationship with everyone he knew and met. John prioritized his friends and family and enjoyed spending quality time with them. He loved playing cards, doing Sudoku, drinking very hot coffee and watching football. He was also a proud Irishman and loved everything Irish including corn beef and cabbage and the Notre Dame football team. John not only had a strong family, but also a strong faith and was always willing to share the words of the Lord. He participated in home Bible Study groups.
In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his two sisters, Cheryl P. (Donahue) Armour and Maureen L. (Donahue) Chase.
John is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Donna (Bishop) Donahue; his son Sean Donahue and his wife Diane; his daughter Stacie Arris and her significant other Scott Banks; his six grandchildren, Briana Morse, Cayla Newman and her husband Chris, Connor MacInnis, Danielle Adams and her husband Nick, and Keith Donahue and his wife Leah; his brother Michael Donahue Sr and his wife Patricia; his two sisters, Helen Donahue and Debra Norris and her husband Gary; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Bedford Road Baptist Church, 67 Bedford Road, Merrimack NH 03054 on Saturday November 28, 2026, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s memory can be made to The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews at IFCJ.org and select Honor Someone Special.
