Obituary

John Adams Peterson, 53, died tragically Monday, December 4, 2023.

John was not a man easily described by words … of his own admission. A man of imposing stature while possessing the softest of hearts.

He committed his life to God, Country, and family while serving in the US Army National Guard for 10 years as a Chaplain. He was at his best when he could provide counsel and support for others in times of need. His compassion for the hearts and minds of others knew no bounds. He was a quiet man, an introspective man, but when he spoke others would listen. He wore many hats in life-Chaplain, Counselor, Husband, Brother, Son, Uncle, and Friend.

Of all his titles, the one he loved the most was Dad.

John leaves behind his wife, Abigail Densmore Peterson of Merrimack; three beautiful children, Victoria, Emma and Austin Peterson and their mother Jessica Mayer of Bedford; his mother and father, Susan and Bill Peterson of Kentucky; his brother Alex Peterson and his wife Kate of Hawaii along with three nieces, Niamh, Norah and Thea.

He was deeply loved and will be so incredibly missed.

Visitation hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack on Thursday, December 14th, 2023 from 4 – 7 PM. A memorial service will be held at First Church of Merrimack, 7 Baboosic Lake Road in Merrimack on Friday, December 15th at 10 AM. Burial will be held privately at the NH Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen for the immediate family.
