Obituary

John Saraceno, 75, of Merrimack NH passed away on 1/1/2021 after a long battle with progressive supranuclear palsy.

John was raised in Arlington Massachusetts where he graduated from Arlington High school. After high school he graduated from East Coast Aerotech and shortly thereafter enrolled in the United States Navy. While in the Navy he was stationed at several locations throughout the country and learned the craft of metal welding.

After his Naval career he worked at several jobs until attaining the status of Shop Steward at now defunct TechWeld, in Burlington, MA. John also worked on weekends throughout his youth until his late 40's with his father (known as the Tomato King) at their tomato stand at Boston's Haymarket. As such, John was known in various circles as "Johnny Tomato" or "Tomato King Jr.". After ending his career in the welding field in the early 80's he worked as a canteen truck owner/operator in Nashua, NH for over 30 years.

John appreciated music and it wasn't uncommon to find him and his bride of 48 years, Darlene, playing some of their favorite artists music at decibels the neighbors three houses away could hear.  He enjoyed watching the Boston sports teams, was an avid cigar smoker for much of his life and was never one to pass up his drink of choice, Dewar's. He enjoyed taking care of his automobiles and when in times of better health could be seen most Sunday mornings washing them in the driveway.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Darlene, daughter April Powell and her husband Andrew Powell of Nashua, NH, son John Saraceno of Merrimack, NH, grandchildren Nicholas and Anthony Martucci and Cayden Powell as well as his sister Carol Williams and her husband Harry Williams of Concord, MA and lifelong friends Kevin O'Connor of Tyngsboro, MA. and Teddy Chunis of Andover, MA. John was predeceased by his sister, JoAnne Saraceno as well as parents John B. Saraceno and Irene (Skibicki) Saraceno.

A small private gathering will be held to celebrate his life. There will be no funeral.
