Dyer, Jr.

Joseph Walter Dyer, Jr., father, grandfather and friend, died Friday, June 10, 2022 at home, at age 71.
He was born in Washington, DC on January 21, 1951 to Joseph W. Dyer, Sr. and Marie (Walters) Lipsie. After graduating from Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, MD, he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy McNeil. They raised their three sons and made their home in Washington, DC, Fairfax, VA and Duluth, GA. They recently moved to Merrimack, NH to be near their grandchildren.
Joe was a computer programmer and entrepreneur. He and Nancy ran a successful software business for many years and later worked for Georgia Pacific and AT&T, programming AS400 mainframe computers. In his free time, he enjoyed playing with electronics, working on projects with his sons and grandchildren, and was working towards earning his small craft airplane pilot's license.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Henry Lipsie, and his brother, David Dyer. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his three sons, Robert Dyer and his wife Kara of Concord, MA, Adam Dyer of Atlanta, GA and Christopher Dyer and his wife, Kat of Alexandria, VA; his two grandchildren, Mae and Daniel Dyer; and his sister, Susan Lunceford of Waldorf, MD.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 708 Milford Road, Merrimack, NH on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 10 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
