June Rosalie Randall Thornton, age 92, of Nashua, New Hampshire died June 8, 2026, at The Hunt Community in Nashua, NH where she was loved and well taken care of for her last 8 years.
Born on August 24,1933 in Lynn, Massachusetts, June was the first of three children of Victor and Irene (Boisclair) Randall. She graduated from St. Mary’s Lynn high school in 1951 and continued her education at Regis College where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart Jack Thornton with whom she enjoyed 61 years of marriage until his passing in June of 2017.
She and Jack immediately began working on their family by having their first son and daughter in Oneida, NY before moving back home to Massachusetts where another son and two daughters were born. They bought their first house in Peabody, MA where they stayed until 1969 when they moved to Silver Spring, MD for three years. They then moved to Chelmsford, MA where their children graduated from high school and went on to college.
When her first daughter went to college, June became a real estate broker in 1975 where she had a successful career at Foster and Foster Real Estate, Coldwell Banker and Roy Smith Real Estate until she retired in 1994 and moved to Nashua NH. When her husband passed, she decided she wanted to move into The Hunt Community where she resided for many years in her own apartment participating in a well-rounded life with new friends and activities in a beautiful safe environment. When she needed more help with daily life, she was able to move to the long-term care wing at the Hunt where she received the best care her family could ask for.
June’s life was her family. She loved gardening, playing bridge, bowling, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, taking classes at Rivier College, a good book, yoga, wintering on Anna Maria Island in FL, and traveling extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe. She was a dedicated volunteer for many years in her retirement at the Day Away Program at St. John Neumann’s Church. But her focus was always on her family. She was always there for them. She and Jack bought a vacation home in North Conway NH in1984 as a gathering spot for their growing family. They also gathered their family for three days in Ogunquit every summer to play in the sun and ocean where she was able to watch her grandchildren grow up.
June is survived by her brother Donald Randall and his wife Frances, her children and their spouses, Mary and Andy, Kathleen and Paul, Patrick and Cindy, Michael and Diane, and Colleen and Wayne, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren John, Connor, Robert, Peter, Jessica, Todd, Brian, Rachel, Logan, and Amelia. Her sister Virginia Anastos passed away in 2017.
There will be a Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church 216 East Dunstable Road, Nashua, NH on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in June’s memory can be made to the Employee Appreciation Fund at the Hunt Community, 10 Allds Street, Nashua NH 03060.
