Obituary

Karen Pitcher, beloved mother and friend, passed away peacefully on December 2nd, 2025 in Nashua, NH surrounded by family. She leaves behind a legacy defined by kindness, creativity, generosity, and a home that was always open to anyone who needed a place to land.

Born in Oswego, NY on May 20th, 1947, she was one of two daughters of the late Kenneth and Rose (Laurin) Cole.

Karen was immensely proud to be a stay-at-home mom while raising her children, and the Pitcher home quickly became a gathering place. Whether it was a holiday, a birthday, a party, or simply an ordinary afternoon, Karen made sure her home was warm, welcoming, and full of laughter. She had a special gift for making people feel included, cared for, and instantly at ease.

For many years, Karen was deeply involved with Our Lady of Mercy Church in Merrimack, dedicating her time, energy, and heart to the community she loved. Her service and compassion touched many lives and reflected her quiet strength and unwavering faith.

Karen was also an extraordinarily talented professional stamp artist, known for her beautifully crafted cards, her creative demos and workshops, and her enthusiastic involvement in sponsorships and trade shows. She found joy in sharing her art with others and in inspiring creativity wherever she went.

Karen also had a deep love for crocheting, a craft she practiced with both talent and heart. Over the years she created countless blankets, hats, and handmade gifts, many of which she donated to charities and community programs. Her work brought comfort to strangers and joy to everyone who received one of her creations.

Karen embraced modern life with gusto and became an avid gamer in her 60s, continuing to play and connect with others through gaming up until she passed. It was one more example of her curiosity, her humor, and her refusal to let age define her.

Karen's life was rich not because of accolades, but because of the countless people she made feel seen, welcomed, and loved. Her warmth, creativity, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Along with her parents, Karen was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Terry Pitcher in 2017 along with her sister, Mary Patricia Carey.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two children, Adam Pitcher and his wife Kara and Robin Pitcher, along with several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Karen's wishes, a private graveside burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Because anxiety and depression are so often misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and overlooked, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to organizations dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of these serious and far-too-common conditions. Supporting this cause honors Karen's belief in compassion, awareness, and caring for others in ways that truly matter.

She leaves behind a family who loved her endlessly and a community made better by her presence. Her memory will continue to live on in every shared story, every gathering she inspired, and every act of kindness done in her honor.
