Kathleen E.
Decola
September 11, 1933 – April 11, 2022
Kathleen E. DeCola, 88, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Courville at Manchester after a lengthy illness. She was constantly surrounded by her close family especially, in the last few hours of her life. Kathleen was a devout Catholic and a communicatee of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Merrimack, NH.
Born on September 11, 1933 in Boston, MA to the late Alfred and Catherine (Hart) LaMonte, Kathleen was raised along with her sister Mary Lou and her brother Alfred, both in what was the West End of Boston. She graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in the North End of Boston. Subsequent to that, she along with her then husband Richard S DeCola, began to raise her family of four children in South Boston before moving them to Nashua, NH in 1963.
Kathleen was pre-deceased by her parents Alfred and Catherine LaMonte, her two siblings, Alfred LaMonte and Marylou Fasciano and most recently, her beloved son, Rick DeCola. She was selfless in her everyday actions and was the consummate giver to all. Her family was her life. Any hobbies or self-interest that she had were subordinate to her family. She showered them with unselfish love and affection, even up to her dying days.
Kathleen was an active participant with all of the Catholic churches and educational facilities that she was affiliated with. This included volunteer work charitable drives of all kinds. She was laser focused on the proper rearing her children and she attended to all of their school related activities. Kathleen made a house a home. Her children's friends always loved to be in and around Kathleen and her homestead.
In her later years she was known to most all as Nana. This name carried with her as she aged in place and eventually required additional care in a skilled nursing facility, rarely, was she ever addressed by her given name. This only speaks to the wonderful and loving person that she was. Even up to her final breath was taken, it was always someone else in the family who she was worried about.
Kathleen was predeceased by her son Rick and will forever be loved and remembered by her three devoted children and their spouses, Ron DeCola, Donna Dufour and husband Kevin and Deb Beaudry and husband Dan, Rick's wife Colleen as well as eight grandchildren, Justin, Jen, Katie, Lindsay, Nick, Craig, Meredith, and Ally, along with several nieces and nephews. She also has 8 great grandchildren, many of whom were by her side in her final moments on this earth.
Visitation hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, NH on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 10 AM – 12 Noon with a service to follow in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua.
