Kent
Mckenzie
February 6, 1943 – March 23, 2025
Kent "Woodchips" McKenzie, of Merrimack, NH, reached his final summit on March 23rd, 2025 at the age of 82.
Born in Portsmouth, NH, on Feb 6th, 1943, to the late Vincent and Virginia McKenzie.
He attended and graduated from Portsmouth High School. Despite all Fridays being optional, they were meant for fishing.
After graduation, Kent honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. While being station in Germany he worked as a multi-vehicle mechanic, building and repairing tanks and a whole host of other vehicles. According to Kent "to repair it, you need to test the out" - which he had fun doing until completing his term of service. Following that, he ventured toward a position at Raytheon as an illustrator in the missile systems and defense division. He loved his job all the way up to retirement.
During his life Kent was an avid mountaineer, usually hiking with one or both of his boys. He was also a highly skilled and talented wood carver and sculptor - a hobby that left wood chips everywhere. All year long, no matter what Kent was doing outside or down in his basement, the Celtic Rock station was booming through the radio.
Kent passed surrounded by lots of love, from his oldest son Kent with his wife Lori, of Antrim NH, and his youngest son Jay with his wife Crystal, of Merrimack NH. Jay and Crystal have two sons that love and miss their "Bampy". A nickname Kent would always hold close to his heart.
Finally, up in the heavens, waiting patiently, was his wife Lynn, whom he loved dearly. At-last, they're together again.
