Obituary

Laura Elise (Hall) Dreyer, 62, of Warner, NH passed away on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026 at her home.

She was born in Rochester, NY on September 15th, 1963, daughter of the late Paul G. and Pauline E. (DeChamplain) Hall.

Laura moved with her family from Caledonia, NY to Merrimack, NH in 1975 where she then was a graduate of Merrimack High School in 1981. She received her Bachelor's degree in Education from Keene State College, completed graduate work in Chinese History from the University of Minnesota and later her Master's degree in Science Education from Lesley University partially funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

A gifted and loved educator in every subject she taught, Laura started at Appleton Elementary School in New Ipswich, NH for three years.  Not long after, she was entrusted with teaching math and science at McKelvie Middle School in Bedford for 18 years. In 2001, she was a New Hampshire State Finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching from the National Science Foundation.

In 2008 she moved to Bedford High School, teaching AP History, AP Psychology, AP Art History, and other humanities courses for 15 years, retiring in 2023.

Outside of teaching, she was a joyful and accomplished baker who had a dessert recipe for every occasion, played piano and flute, and loved spending time with her family. She and her family also enjoyed travelling together to sporting events, concerts, and spending vacation time across the northeast and in Europe.

She will be forever loved and held dear by her husband of 35 years, Timothy Dreyer; two children, Nikolas Dreyer and Rebekah Dreyer-Rowe and her wife Katie; three siblings, Lelia and her husband Tim Dutton, Michael Hall and his wife Rhonda, and Peter Hall; nieces and nephews: Lindsay Dutton and her fiancé Dalton Mutz, Hannah Dutton and her fiancé Ryan Cameron, Madelyn Hall, Meghan Hall, Jacob Hall and Noelle Hall. She also leaves two beloved former students who have become family members, Stacie and Max Lin, as well as countless cherished friends, colleagues, students, and extended relatives.

Memorial visitation will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack NH on Saturday, January 17th, 2026 from 12 noon – 1:30 PM with a short service to be held in the funeral home at 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Laura's memory be made to the Education Department at Strawbery Banke Museum, 14 Hancock Street, Portsmouth NH 03801 or online at Strawbery Banke Donation Website .
