Obituary

Lloyd Gaudette, 80, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home.  He was born October 13, 1942, in Norton, VT at his grandparents' farm; the son of the late Armand and Joyce (Baldwin) Gaudette.

Lloyd graduated from Groveton High School and went on to the University of New Hampshire where he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in mathematics.  He later did post-graduate study in Mathematics at the University of Rhode Island.

Lloyd was enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968.  He was a proud veteran; especially proud of the opportunity to use his math skills while at Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD during the Vietnam War.  Lloyd returned to Groveton where he began his teaching career as a math teacher at Groveton High School.  He went on to teach at Essex Junction High School, Essex Junction, VT, and Champlain College in Burlington, VT.  He was most proud of his math teaching skills.  Later in his career he enjoyed working for data technology companies. As a high school student Lloyd started running, biking, and hiking; and continued these activities throughout his life. This was his sport and exercise. Over his lifetime he entered many 5K and 10K running races and often won in his age category. He used to say, "He was the fastest kid on the block".

Lloyd avidly read a wide variety of subjects including health, history, politics, math, and science.  He had several favorite authors and anxiously awaited their next books.  He was always learning some computer language. He loved the cats he shared his life with over the years including Smoky, Toffy, and Frisco.

In recent years, Lloyd enjoyed keeping the birdfeeders and suet containers full in front of our home.  He used the branches of the big tree in the front yard and rigged various suet holders near the living room window so we could see them up close.

He is survived by wife of 56 years, Evelyn (Frizzell) Gaudette.  Family members include sister Mary Gaudette of Concord, NH, sister-in-law Rochelle Gaudette of Chelmsford, MA, niece Linda (Gaudette) Shpilner and nephew Troy Gaudette.  Lloyd was predeceased by a brother Arthur Gaudette and a nephew Brian Gaudette.  Lloyd also has several other nieces and nephews but was particularly close to nephew Lyle Frizzell and wife Dawn, nephew Richard Frizzell, Jr. and wife Pam, and niece Lara (Frizzell) Dowland and husband David.  He has many cousins in Canada and the United States and enjoyed spending time with all of them.  Lloyd has fond memories of time spent with cousins Lorraine and Pauline in Massachusetts from his teenage years to the present.

His family would like to thank the staff at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home for the loving care he received while there.

Services :  There are no services planned at this time.  At Lloyd's request there will be no calling hours.  A private burial will take place at Emerson Cemetery in Stark, NH in the spring.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boy's Town, 14100 Crawford St., Boys Town, NE 68010 or Hillsborough County Nursing Home, 400 Mast Rd., Goffstown, NH 03045.
