Louise H. Chani, 86, of Merrimack, New Hampshire, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Nashua Post Acute Care after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Louise was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on March 14, 1940, the daughter of the late Simon and Vartoukie Harzigian. She grew up in Lowell, where she played the violin and graduated from Lowell High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and later received her master’s degree in education.
Louise began her career as an elementary school teacher in Acton, Massachusetts. After 25 years in education, she pursued a career in real estate with Century 21. She later worked in marketing for Sam’s Club for 15 years before retiring.
Louise was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Forisso of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Anthony F. Vieira; her stepson, Tony Vieira, and his wife, Cheryl, of Massachusetts; her grandchildren, Christian Vieira of California and Joshua Vieira of New York; her nephew, Kenneth Forisso of Maine; her niece, Linda Corbly, and her husband, Mark, of New Hampshire; Eric Lemes of Florida; Jessica and Fiona Steele of Vancouver, Canada; and John and Linda Nascimento of Madeira, Portugal. She will also be fondly remembered by her many close friends and neighbors in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and the greater Merrimack area.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, New Hampshire.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
