Lucien Gerard
Houle
September 4, 1934 – January 15, 2024
Lucien Gerard Houle, 89 died Monday, January 15, 2024 at Concord Hospital in Concord, New Hampshire. He was born September 4, 1934 in Victoriaville, Province of Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Emilia Houle (Bosse) and Wellie Houle. He lived in Lawrence Massachusetts for 5 years then lived in Salem, New Hampshire for 27 years before moving to Twin Mountain, New Hampshire in 1994.
Lucien is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rolande Cecile Houle (Soucy) and four children; Christine (Allen) Bouressa of Merrimack New Hampshire, Reginald (Suzanne Reynolds) of Haverhill Massachusetts, Diane (Mike Paterno) of Mashpee Massachusetts, and Nancy (Stan) Dogil of Salem New Hampshire; eight grandchildren, Ryan Dogil, Colleen Dogil, Nicholas Bouressa, Naomi Brattlof, James Dogil, Katherine Bouressa, Mariah Houle, and Garrett Houle; and one great grandson, Mason Brattlof. He is preceded by his siblings Rita Houle (Cloutier), Irene Houle (Hamel), Gaston Houle, Fernande Houle (Trotter), Conrad Houle, and Simone Houle (Luneau).
Lucien worked his entire adult life as a mechanic working in various shops in Victoriaville, Canada before moving to the United States in 1962 and eventually owned and operated "Lucien's Garage" from 1967 to 1988 in Lawrence Massachusetts. After selling his business and moving to Twin Mountain, Lucien continued buying, selling and repairing cars in his "retirement" years. He was well known and respected in the community.
In the 89 years that Lucien lived, he was so many things to so many people. He was a son, a brother, a hero, a husband, a dad, a grandpa, and a loyal friend. While in Salem, Lucien received an Accommodation for Heroism by the Salem Fire Department for his life saving actions on three separate occasions, rescuing a neighbor from a burning house and pulling two snowmobilers from a lake.
Lucien truly had a heart of gold and was always looking out for others. He loved his life, he was strong, loyal, quiet at times, enjoyed tinkering and fixing anything that moved, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will sorely be missed by all who knew him, including his cat, Mia.
A celebration of life will be held at the Twin Mountain Baptist Church, 555 Route 3 North, Twin Mountain NH on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 at 11 AM.
