Obituary

M. Theresa "Terri" (Soucy) Maloon died peacefully on December 26, 2023, at home in Merrimack, NH after a brief illness. Born in 1945, she was the first child of the late Rita (Gilbert) and F. Joseph Soucy.

She was raised in Concord NH and graduated from St. John's High School in 1963. Her meticulous attention to detail led to a successful career and numerous roles within the publishing industry. She began as a typesetter for the Lowell Sun and completed her career as an editor for the textbook publisher PC&F Inc. A devoted mother, her true passion was raising her beloved children while supporting each of their endeavors. She spent numerous hours leading local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops. Her family lived in Nashua before spending two years in Lucerne, Switzerland and then settling in Merrimack, NH. Terri was a survivor of breast cancer and divorce.

She was a passionate lifelong learner, artist, and reader who mastered hobbies in; fly fishing, sewing, quilting, tole painting, gardening, jewelry making, modern doll collecting, and as a miniaturist creating detailed dioramas. She frequently reminisced about sailing in the Caribbean, touring Maui, and attending many modern doll conventions throughout the country. A devoted Audubon Society member, Terri participated in their annual bird counts and maintained bluebird boxes throughout her life. She took great pleasure observing nature while walking through the woods, kayaking with her dog, or simply watching the wildlife in her backyard. She passed on her reverence for nature to her children and grandchildren.

Terri was blessed to have married and shared 35 years with the late Richard (Guy) Maloon, a fellow nature and bird lover. She cherished his devotion to her and her children, whom he lovingly called his bonus children. Together they visited all of NH's covered bridges, participated in numerous Audubon events, and were adoring grandparents. Terri became his dedicated caregiver in his final years of ALS.

She is survived by her children; Leon (Sara) MacCorkle, Becky (Igor Frenkel) Hall, Kate (Sam Collins) MacCorkle, and Susan (Rick Gerriets) MacCorkle, her grandchildren, and brother Albert (Sarah) Soucy. She will be missed by her lifelong dear friend Jan Hanks, her doll collecting and doll convention accomplice Karen Klaas, her aunts, nieces, and many caring friends. We know she was met by her many adored pets at the Rainbow Bridge.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers of 360 SHS and Home Health & Hospice Care for their dedication and commitment to providing quality care for Terri, as well as their encouragement to, and support of, the family.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord at a future time.
