Malcolm Neil
Macintyre
November 30, 1941 – January 27, 2022
Malcolm "Mal" Neil MacIntyre, 80, of Saint Augustine, FL passed away on January 27, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous and valiant battle with lung cancer, pneumonitis, and pneumonia. He was born on November 30, 1941, in Chicago, IL to the late Archibald MacIntyre and Gladys (Johnson) MacIntyre.
Mal was a longtime resident of Merrimack NH. He was the consummate husband, and devoted father and grandfather (Papa) and selflessly put his family first before his extremely successful career in the wireless telecommunications industry. Mal was a longtime employee of Motorola and left his job as a Vice President to be closer to his family. He then went on to become President of Acticom, which was sold to Fidelity Capital, which in turn became Nextel Communications where he served as a Director. Mal then owned and operated with his son, Data Radio Management, Co Inc. and Highland Communications, LLC. headquartered in Merrimack NH. He was a beloved coworker, boss and mentor to many in this dynamic field of business.
Mal is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, the Honorable Doris Rae (Swanner) MacIntyre, their two children, Carrie Lynn Atkinson, Scott Craig MacIntyre and his wife Patricia Anne (Manning) MacIntyre who reside in Merrimack NH. Mal (Papa) is also survived by his five loving granddaughters, Emily Atkinson and Allison Atkinson of Saint Augustine, FL; Mikayla MacIntyre of East Boston, MA; Jennifer MacIntyre and Grace MacIntyre of Merrimack NH. Along with his parents, Mal is pre-deceased by his Sister and Brother-in-Law, Dorna and Les Kamps of Crivitz WI. He was also a loving Uncle to their five children and their many offspring.
Mal and his wife Doris had many friends and enjoyed entertaining at their homes in Florida, Merrimack, and their lake house in Shapleigh, ME. (Camp Run-A-Muck). He enjoyed many aspects of being on the lake, including boating, waterskiing, and swimming. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren- traveling, cruising, and going to Disney Parks. He was always our Captain of Adventure and gave one heck of a wild tube ride when he was at the helm of the boat. Mal enjoyed drinking scotch with friends and family and watching football.
Mal lived a great life and will be missed by all who new him. He was an eternal optimist with a fun-loving wit and hearty laugh who imparted his wisdom with phrases like "never look back" and "onward and upward".
