Martial Alexandre
Roy
August 28, 1938 – January 17, 2026
Martial Alexandre Roy passed peacefully at home on January 17, 2026, surrounded by family. He leaves a beautiful legacy, and an empty space that can never be filled. He is greatly missed.
Martial was born on August 28,1938 to Ernest and Louisiana (LaPierre) Roy. As one of a large family of 15, he grew up in the countryside of Quebec. As a young man, he met the love his life, Lise, at a dance in Coaticook. He married her in 1960, and loved her completely, unwaveringly, and fiercely until her passing in 2023.
After living in Quebec for the birth of their first 3 sons, Martial and Lise packed up their young family and emigrated to the US in 1970, where a fourth son completed their family in 1974.
With just one small backhoe, Martial started a small business in 1971 that grew into a company that set the standard for land clearing and wood recycling firms across New England. With his exemplary work ethic, integrity, and business savvy, Martial became a preeminent figure of the industry.
In 2003, Both Martial and Lise earned their US citizenship. He was so proud to be here, and so grateful for the opportunity to create a beautiful life for his family. Martial's life was indeed an example of the American Dream.
Known for his optimism, zest for life and quick wit, Martial was also a generous and kind man. He quietly helped people quite often, without fanfare, and without expecting anything in return. It brought him joy to help others.
After retiring, Martial and Lise traveled often. They spent time in Florida and Canada, visiting friends and family near and far. They often enjoyed cruises with their family. Pepere, as the children called him, was always laughing, ready to play "pish", or give rides on his tractor. As they grew older, he became a source of wisdom and advice. His kind and genuine smile always made those around him feel comfortable.
He was predeceased by his wife Lise, sisters Micheline (Labbe) and Ramonde (Fauteux), brothers Clement, Edmond, Marc, Bernadin, and Gerard.
Martial leaves behind four sons; Norman, Daniel, Sylvain, and David and their wives; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister, Simone (Gaulin) and six brothers, Laurent, Jean Louis, Jean Marie, Francois, Gaston and Michel.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
