Mary T.
Burgess
October 2, 1935 – June 5, 2024
Mary T. Burgess, 88, of Nashua, NH and formerly of Westford, MA, passed away on Wednesday June 5th, 2024 at Maple Leaf Nursing Home in Manchester after a period of declining health.
Born in Watertown, MA on October 2nd, 1935, Mary was one of four children to the late Joseph and Jeanette (Foisey) Carroll. She was raised in Watertown and graduated from Rosary Academy.
Ever independent and self-confident, she first found employment with American Airlines and then as a foreman for Raytheon, from which she retired in 1993. Her tenacious spirit served her well throughout her life, and especially when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her 40s. Never letting the illness limit her, she deftly piloted a motorized scooter as she continued to enjoy her favorite activities--shopping and trips with friends to Foxwoods. She also was fond of reading, watching movies, and sharing gossip over tea.
Mary will be remembered for her deep Catholic faith and fierce love for her family. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 59 years, Warren A. Burgess, Jr. on October 19th, 2021 along with her three brothers, Robert, James, and Joseph Carroll, and will be forever loved and remembered by her two sons, Brian Burgess and Glen Burgess and his wife Jenn Monroe; her four grandchildren, Crystal, Alicia, Katelin, and Gracie; her eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews
Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, June 13th, 2024 from 9 – 10:15 AM at St. John Neumann Church, 708 Milford Road, Merrimack, NH followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mary's name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
