Obituary

MaryAnn Johnston, 63, passed away at her home, March 14, 2026 after a long illness and a period of declining health.

She was born May 3,1962 in Sacramento, CA. The only child of the late Elmer "Casey" and Mary (Hayes) Johnston. As her father was in the US Air Force, the family lived in Colorado Springs, CO, and Batavia, NY before settling in Merrimack. A long-time resident of Merrimack, MaryAnn was educated in the Merrimack schools and graduated from Merrimack High School, class of 1980. She went on to the University of Rhode Island School of Pharmacology and graduated in 1985. She was then a pharmacist for Osco drugstores and later for RiteAid pharmacy.

MaryAnn enjoyed traveling and exploring new places and believed in being a positive steward of the earth, especially the oceans. She had a passion for scuba diving and took great enjoyment from her achievement of diving in all 7 seas. MaryAnn enjoyed watching the Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox and many different sports.

MaryAnn will be remembered as a kind, generous person with a good sense of humor who took strength and comfort in her dog Blu and cat Olivia as well as her friends and family.

MaryAnn is survived by an aunt, Joan Levins of FL; cousins Jane Cummings and Judith Chesser of FL, Matthew Cummings and his wife Donna of Merrimack, NH and  Joan McMahon and her husband Kevin of Bedford, NH, extended family and many dear friends.

A graveside service will be held at Last Rest Cemetery, 13 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack NH on Thursday, April 2nd, 2026 at 11 AM.
