Michael Stephen
Bowser
June 15, 1939 – November 23, 2024
Michael Stephen Bowser of Merrimack, NH passed away peacefully at home, in the early morning hours of November 23, 2024. He lived life well for 85 years.
Born to Charles Joseph and Margaret "Peg" Bowser (Collins) on June 15, 1939, Michael grew up in Arlington with his siblings.
He graduated Malden Catholic High School in 1957 and served honorably in the U.S. Army in Germany for 3 years. Michael earned his 64-year lifetime union membership pin from Boston's IBEW, Local 103. He worked at Suffolk Electric for thirty years electrifying Boston's skyline of offices, hospitals and schools. He finished his career closer to home and inside at The Boston Globe press facility in Billerica. He retired in 2000.
Michael married Regina A. Bowser (Sullivan) in 1964 and raised their three children in Chelmsford, MA. Never a head coach, always an assistant coach, he drove dozens of Chelmsford hockey players to hundreds of games and practices. Michael and Regina moved to Parker Village in Merrimack, NH in 2005 where they formed lifetime friendships with neighbors. Michael was a multisport athlete and avid golfer in his youth. He loved fishing with his boys when they finally got around to buying a boat. His greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren skate, play golf, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, and rugby. Michael volunteered for over 10 years at Exceptional Citizen's Week at Camp Fatima in Gilmanton Iron Works, NH, upgrading the facilities for handicapped campers and staffing the wood shop. Michael was loved by everyone who knew him. He would fix a neighbor's lights, car, or appliance anytime. His tough exterior was a mask for a huge heart and overwhelming loyalty to family and friends.
He was predeceased by his sister MaryEllen McKenna and her Husband Vinny, formerly of Rockland, MA.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Regina, and their children, Donna M Finnegan and her husband Paul of West Roxbury, Michael S. Bowser, Jr. and his wife Moira of Chelmsford and Kenneth J. Bowser and his wife Ellen Moriarty of Lowell; grandchildren Sgt. Declan Finnegan USMC and his finance Stephanie Hoshor, Colin Finnegan, Aidan Finnegan, Siobhan Bowser and Jared Krueger, and Liam Bowser; siblings, Catherine Bowser of Dedham, and his brother Charles J. Bowser, Jr and his wife Denise of Needham along with several nieces, nephews and many friends.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 13 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack NH on Saturday, November 30th, 2024 at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Michael's memory can be made to Home, Health & Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack NH 03054
