Paul V.
Plante
June 1, 1935 – June 7, 2023
Paul V. Plante, 88, longtime resident of Merrimack, NH passed away on June 7, 2023, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH after a period of declining health.
He was born in Fall River, MA, on June 1, 1935, the son of the late Ernest D. and Anne M. (Gagnon) Plante and attended Prevost High School where he played basketball.
Paul was a resident of Westboro, MA before moving to Merrimack in 1978. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree and a Veteran of the US Navy serving from 1955-1957. Before retirement, he was a retail sales manager for Wallach's (Hartmarx in Chicago, IL) for many years.
In addition to his parents, Paul is predeceased by two sisters, Nanette Plante and Patricia Pell.
Paul is survived by his wife of 62 years, Johann M. (Committo) Plante; two sons and a daughter in-law, Jason Plante of Florida and Jordan Plante and his wife Lynda of Concord, NH; six grandchildren, Maggie Ayers, Ashley, Sydney, and Jacob Plante, and Nicholas and Katie Requarth; one brother, George Plante of Spokane, WA; and a sister Mariette Schule of Venice, FL; good friends Sandra and Ed McCann; former daughter-in-law Diane Plante; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and getting to know the many friends and families that the sports brought together; he never wanted to miss a game. Paul took pleasure in going out to eat and had many favorites that would put a smile on his face from a Newman's lemonade, meals at the Common man Roadside, a hot dog at Arnie's or his usual Snickers bar at Bow Field House.
Paul will also be fondly remembered by many for his handlebar mustache, his plaid pants at Christmas, and his Navy cap; he was so proud to be a Veteran.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Hanlon and Dr. Ajay Koshy for all they did for Paul.
There are no calling hours. The Rivet Funeral home & Crematorium in Merrimack, NH is assisting our family.
