Caprioglio
April 1, 1942 – April 25, 2021
Peter J. Caprioglio, 79, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at home in Nashua New Hampshire. Peter was born to the late Emanuel and Camille (Vitrotti) Caprioglio of Brooklyn NY on April 1st, 1942.
Peter attended St. John's preparatory school and then St. John's University. He graduated with his Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He proceeded to earn his Masters in Sociology from Syracuse University, NY.
Helping and being of service to others was important to Peter. He trained to be a Volunteer In Service To America,( VISTA) where he met and fell in love with his wife of almost 55 years, Carolyn Hyslop. They married in FL on April 30th, 1966, and raised their two children in Cromwell CT.
Peter was a professor of sociology, psychology and anthropology at Middlesex Community College in Middletown CT. He was awarded the status of Professor Emeritus after thirty years of teaching at Middlesex. He and Carolyn retired to Amherst NH in 1999. They enjoyed church-related activities, traveling, their cats, and watching their family grow.
Peter was pre-deceased by his brother Louis Caprioglio and his wife Irene. He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, their daughter Melinda and her husband Gary Nenninger and his son Cory, their son Michael and his wife Tracy (Quinn) Caprioglio, their daughter Emily and son Owen, his brother Albert and his husband Ernest, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Peter's smile, laugh, faith and generosity will be missed by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack on Saturday, May 1st at 9:30 AM. Masks are required, and social distancing will be in place. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua.
