Obituary

Richard "Dick" Pelletier, 85, of North Port, Florida and formerly of Nashua and Merrimack, New Hampshire died Saturday, February 24, 2024.  Dick passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home, just where he wanted to be. He was born in Pepperell, Massachusetts on August 23, 1938, son of Ellsworth and Catherine (O'Leary) Pelletier.

Dick graduated from Keith Academy located in Lowell Massachusetts in 1955.  After attending Lowell Technical College for a time, Dick participated in the Golden Gloves as a heavyweight boxer. He continued his boxing while in the Army National Guard.

Once out of the Army, he began his professional career as a welder and pipefitter and was a proud member of UA Local 131 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union.  He was known for being able to build and fix just about anything which included the start-to-finish building of the family home in Merrimack. While in Merrimack, Dick volunteered many hours with MYA youth sports as the Director of the MYA youth hockey league, as a hockey referee and as a little league and Babe Ruth baseball coach.

Dick was an avid golfer and spent his early retirement years working at a local golf course in order to be close to the game he loved and friends who shared the same passion for pubs and putting. In Florida, he enjoyed spending his time and support of the local AMVETS where he had many friends.  Dick was also a member of the Club National in Nashua, New Hampshire.

In addition to his parents, he is pre-deceased by his wife Betty who passed away in 2015 after 54 years of marriage.  He is also pre-deceased by a sister, Brenda.

Members of his family include a daughter Lisa Fulling and her husband Mark and a son Rick Pelletier and his wife Kathy all of Merrimack; a brother Jack and his wife Peggy, a brother Mark and his wife Suzie, a sister-in-law Margaret Gagnon and her husband Don; his grandchildren Stephen Fulling and his wife Nadine, David Fulling, Stephanie and Emily Pelletier, and great-grandchildren Leila and Jack Fulling. He is also survived by his very close friend John Anderson and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
